(Other names: Sahdev, Sahadeva)
Sahadev was one of the five sons of Pandu, who was born by the Ashvini kumars (twin celestial Gods) from the womb of Madri, Pandu’s wife. He was Nakul’s younger brother. He had also got his education from Guru Dronacharya. Sahadev was an expert in sword-fight.
During Rajsurya yagya (sacrifice) arranged by Yudhishthir, the eldest of Pandavas, Sahadev had gained victory over the whole of south region. Sahadev was also a specialist in the medicines of horses and when Pandavas were living incognito, Sahadev was working at the stable of king Viraat in the name of Jaychal.
In the war of Mahabharata, Sahadev had killed Shakuni. It is said that after the war of Mahabharata, when the Pandavas left for the journey to Himalayas, Sahadev was 105 years old that time.
He had two wives- Draupadi who was the wife of the Pandavas and second one Vijaya. Vijaya was the daughter of Sahadev’s uncle Shalya. Sahadev had two sons Shrukarma from Draupadi and Suhotra from Vijaya. After Mahabharata when in absence of Pandavas, Ashwathama attacked Pandavas camp one night and killed Pandavas sons, Sahadev’s both the sons were killed.
