Eventually, Sanjna’s father, Daksha, intervened, and Surya discovered the truth about Chhaya. Disturbed by this revelation, Surya banished Chhaya and sought out Sanjna, who was living as a mare in the forest after transforming herself to escape his brilliance. Surya, taking the form of a horse, approached Sanjna in the forest. She recognized him and agreed to return with him, but under the condition that she would be allowed to leave him whenever she wanted. Surya agreed, and they returned to the heavens, where Sanjna resumed her role as his wife.
