Venus Yantra is the sacred geometrical diagram to invoke planet Venus (Shukra). Shukra is the divine personification of planet Venus. In Hindu mythology, Shukra is a sage who is the teacher of the Asuras (demons). He is a part of Hindu system of celestial bodies – Navagraha. A strong position of Shukra in horoscope strengthens reproductive organs, develops bond between a man and woman, bestows with luxury and materialistic pleasure. Venus Yantra is contained in a Bhupur (a square with 4 T-shaped doors), the doors give access to the Yantra. Inside the Bhupur are eight petals, representing the eight elements of the world – space, air, fire, water, earth, mind, intellect, and ego. The Yantra is Blue in colour. Blue is a cold colour. It has a calming effect on the emotions, helping developing bond between a man and woman. The octagram inside the circle of petals is two entwined square, representing the Goddess of wealth and materialistic pleasure, Lakshmi. According to Hindu mythology, Shukra is the son of the sage Bhrigu and is revered for his wisdom and knowledge of the arts and sciences. Shukra is also associated with fertility, luxury, and pleasure.
One of the most well-known stories involving Shukra in Indian mythology is his role in the churning of the ocean of milk (Samudra Manthan). During this cosmic event, the gods (Devas) and demons (Asuras) joined forces to churn the ocean in order to obtain the nectar of immortality (amrita). Shukra, being the guru of the demons, advised them on how to extract the nectar and helped them in their quest.
