Riding into battle atop a fierce lion, Durga confronted Mahishasura in a ferocious battle that lasted for nine days and nights.

On the tenth day, known as Vijayadashami or Dussehra, Durga finally vanquished Mahishasura, piercing him with her trident and slaying the demon. It is believed that during this battle, Durga assumed the form of a powerful bull, symbolizing strength, determination, and stability.
